Shap Primary School - Learn about the three "R's" - Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

A group of 28 year six schoolchildren from Shap Primary School visited Eden Community Recycling's premises at Mardale Road, Penrith Industrial Estate on Wednesday to learn more about the three R's - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle - following on from their class project, entitled "Cycling and Recycling".

The pupils got to see ECR's new polystyrene baler in action and how items they have brought in are recycled to eventually make a polystyrene bale.

They also had the opportunity to make their own bale out of polystyrene products they had brought to Penrith to be recycled, helped by Colin & Lynda Nineham of ECR.

Managing Director of ECR Colin Nineham said "We were overjoyed to show the progress we are making to the next generation and feel it is an integral part of our priorities to promote a sustainable future"
