Another First For Cumbria In Eden

Another first for Cumbria in Eden, Eden Community Recycling (ECR) have just taken delivery of a new “Polystyrene” baler which was part funded by CCC through the CRISP programme.

Colin Nineham, Managing Director said “that this is a natural expansion to our services that businesses and households have wanted for some time. We have always led the way in providing new facilities at ECR such as when we introduced plastic recycling in 2002 which we proved can work, this is now being replicated by others around the County. Our business ethos is to provide a tailored service to suit individual needs, but to do it in such a way as to be financially and environmentally sustainable”.

We can from today offer businesses the complete recycling solution to assist them not only to save money but to reduce their carbon footprint by recycling paper, cardboard, glass, plastics, foil, cans, beverage cartons and now polystyrene. They can either use our facilities at Mardale Road, Penrith by agreement for a nominal monthly fee or by having facilities on their premises which are serviced by ECR. Once the recyclables are baled into mill sized they are then sent to mills in the UK for reprocessing.

Unfortunately there are no immediate plans to provide collection banks on any of the household recycling centres, but householders will be able to bring their polystyrene along with other recyclables to our operating centre which will be open each Saturday between 10.00am and noon.
